Have you ever heard of "Steam Punk?" Steampunk is a subgenre of geekdom fantasy and which keeps a particular breed of virgins to prevent actually seeing a vagina. It's from the fiction works that were set in a world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century. Think H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or if someone had built a computer after the Civil War. You know, Wild Wild West kind of stuff.
It's not enough anymore to dress up and be a cos-player (dressing up in Underoos of your favorite super hero). Now the "cool new trend" amongst the geeks and nerds at the Comic Con is to dress as a Steampunk version of your favorite character.
Now, the concept of the Steampunk Star Wars figures is actually kind of interesting - it takes the original ideas of the movie - which borrowed HEAVILY from early Flash Gordon and Buck Rodgers - and kind of places it back even a tad further. The artistry of the action figures this guy has created is really kind of pretty.
That's why I'm sharing it with you. Here's the larger article - and where the pictures are from. The Darth Vader looks like a tool - but the Leia in a corset and no Cinnamon buns in her hair is interesting. I'd like to see what the ships would look like in this concept. Imagine how cool the prequels could have been if they would have just adapted this kind of look. I might even have looked past Jar Jar if it had looked like this.... But why do they all have to have goggles?
