Suday Comics - The Week In Review

The week in review - where we sum up everything we missed or were ranting about this week with a cartoon...

Russia caught on fire this week...
And Pakistan drowned...
Charlie Rangel told the Ethic's Committee to go f*ck themselves and the 80 year old danced at his birthday party.
It seems Harry Reid really is a racist. He said that his boss, Mr. Obama did not have a “Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one” and that he was popular because he is “light skinned”. He's been called out as an anti-semite, and this week called all hispanic men Democrats. Harry Reid once again demonstrates that it is that it is OK to be a racial bigot, so long as you are a leftwing racial bigot. Folks in Nevada, please, pretty please, get rid of this stupid nut. He makes you look bad. And forget his racial slurs - he's also an idiot. The racial slurs are just cherries on top of his crap ice cream banana split of incompetence.
The recovery isn't what they said it would be.
All this noise about a bitchy little child of a flight attendant taking a couple beers down the slide to say he quit... well the real reason he's being heralded as a hero? You bet - there's a job opening at Jet Blue! And here's an interesting observation on the ruling oligarchy political class...
And in California - the land of Fruit and Nuts...
And finally. in the history of bad advertising placement, this one wins the splattered mud pie.
Have a great week folks, if we all make it through, we'll see each other next week.

Zeus Nukes Touchdown Jesus

Touchdown Jesus Statue before his battle with Zeus...

Touchdown Jesus after his battle with Zeus.
Lightning struck and ignited a fire late Monday that destroyed the $500,000 62-foot-tall statue of Jesus Christ with his arms stretched toward the skies, according to Monroe, Ohio police.

The only thing visible this morning is the charged frame of the structure.

“It burned to the ground. The whole statue is gone,” said Kim Peace, a police dispatcher.

The large “King of Kings” statue was a Butler County landmark since it was erected in 2004 outside Solid Rock Church, 904 N. Union Rd., along northbound Interstate 75 in Monroe just north of the Ohio 63 exit.

Fire crews were called to the church at 11:15 p.m. after several people phoned 911 to report the blaze as a severe thunderstorm swept through Greater Cincinnati, producing a spectacular lightning show, Peace said.

“The lightning was just amazing,” she said, wryly adding: “It was a lot of fun in here last night.”

When fire crews arrived, they found the statue fully involved and an adjacent amphitheater burning. The fire extended into the attic of the amphitheater, destroyed equipment, before fire crews contained it, Peace said.

No injuries were reported. Fire officials are expected to release a damage estimate after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

As fire gorged the iconic statue, several motorists along I-75 pulled over to photograph the sight.

That prompted troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol to respond and patrol the area to prevent a traffic jam and potential accidents, according to the patrol’s Lebanon post.

Church workers declined comment this morning, saying the pastors were up all night due to the fire and should talk to the media later.

The sculpture stretches 40 feet wide at the base. It was made of plastic form and fiberglass over a steel frame. The frame is the only thing visible this morning.

According to the evangelical church's website, there are about 4,000 members. The church was founded by former horse trader Lawrence and Darlene Bishop of Middletown.

Here's this video of it. I had nothing to do with the music choice:

Flames of Fire

Sometimes fire is good, fire is natural. It can rejuvenate nature, causing nutrients to return to the soil, and creates an environment with rich, fresh growth. There are plants that only germinate in the presence of fire. This is comforting when you're talking about a fire in Yellowstone or in the Rocky Mountain National Park.... but we're talking about LA.

In no surprise to me at all, the Los Angeles Fire Was Arson, Officials Say.

The wildfire north of Los Angeles is being investigated as a homicide.

The fire has claimed the lives of two firefighters, ravaged more than 250 square miles and destroyed more than 60 homes was caused by arson, the federal Forest Service said.

"If an arsonist did this, everyone should be angry about it," Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca told The Times. "This is one of the most unacceptable crimes."

I'm angry for the firefighter's families. I hope they catch the SOB.

Cube Rage

Want to see how to get fired from your dead end cube job?

There's more
at Gizmodo with a security cam vid.

Now, at first, I was just going to call Shenanigans. But, I'm a little hesitant to go all the way... as it's a little wacky and stupid - and there are SO many people standing around FILMING it... but it's still better than any episode of the Office.

Flamewar continues, takes out San Diego

San Diego is about to lose their final electrical connection to the city, which mimics exactly what happened the last time I played SIM CITY 2000!

I remember that I dispatched all my fire crews to put out the fire, but it was too late, all my electrical wires burnt up and the whole damn city blanked.

Mass chaos, rioting in the streets. Dogs and Cats - you know the quotes, fan boy. Luckily the black clouds of burning asbestos kept the populous in check. Otherwise there would have been a run on the liquor and ammunition stores! The SimNationalGuard was on duty holding down SimSomalia at the time, so they were no help. And since they're not really trained for that kind of work, it wouldn't have mattered much anyway. All my environmentally conscious activists all ditched town too. You'd think they'd have volunteered to help save the trees, I mean, since they loved the forest so much?

Well, at least my levies held. I spent extra on those and had them built by my local cronies rather than opting for SimFederal money and the SimArmyCorps of Engineers.

The refugees were put into my stadium that I had JUST built. Man, that really burnt me up. There was even a game scheduled that weekend.

The part I remember after the fires were contained was how the advisers and populace complained, no matter what I did. If I built a hospital - they wanted a school. If I repaired a road, they wanted more rail lines. It was like it was rigged or something for me to fail?

Anyhow, it seems that if you comment on Blasphemes, you get a whole article now. So be sure to hit that comments button folks - before you know it you'll get your own blog!
