It's all fun and games until...
Olympic Luger from Republic of Georgia Dies After Crash During Training RunA luge athlete from the Republic of Georgia, Nodar Kumaritashvili, was killed in a crash in training on the Olympic track at the Whistler Sliding Center on Friday, an official at the track confirmed. Kumaritashvili lost control of his sled near the end of his run, when he was moving at 88 miles an hour, and was propelled over the track wall into a steel pole. Training was immediately suspended on the track, which many competitors have said may be too fast and too dangerous. More:
It's all fun and games until you're propelled into to steel pole.
Our thoughts go out to Nodar's family.

I asked for the Olympics, I got a prison. How's that for being born under a bad sign?
U.S. to Pick Illinois Prison to House Some Guantánamo DetaineesThe Obama administration about to announce that it has selected a prison in northwestern Illinois to house terrorism suspects now being held at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. It's a big step toward shutting down the military detention facility in Cuba.
Now when we say 'selected' does that mean there really were other bids, or did they just collect the papers and give it to Illinois anyway? How hard was the bidding process there?
An administration official said President Obama had directed the federal government to proceed with acquiring the Thomson Correctional Center, a maximum-security prison in a rural village about 150 miles west of Chicago. Much to the delight of the impoverished state that Mr. Obama left behind.
My guess, on the stage that conducts Illinois political theater, this is a breadcrumb thrown to the cronies in Springfield that hadn't gotten any love from Mr. Obama.
I'd really support this plan if former Governors George Ryan and Rod Blagojevich (when they convict him) get to stay there too.

Prediction Comes True
ALMOST Faster than I could type it, Dana Loesch has forwarded me this gem from Sen. Roland Burris (D-Blagojevich):Senator Rowland Burris of Illinois, the Senator who was 'appointed' to fill President Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat, blames George Bush for Chicago not getting the Olympics in 2016. Burris stated in an interview, shortly after the announcement, that the image of the U. S. has been so tarnished in the last 8 years that, even Barack Obama making an unprecedented pitch for the games could not overcome the hatred the world has for us as a result of George Bush.
TA-DA!
Of course, that completely discounts why Chicago was even selected as a finalist in June, 2008, 'Senator'. Maybe the Olympic committee just wanted to see this picture?

NOlympics
No Olympics for Richard Daleyland. Not Yours.First off, Obama went to Copenhagen to fulfill his Pharaoh's wishes to get the Olympic Torch in Washington Park. Oprah and his wife weren't enough - or worse - caused so much damage, that the big guy had to cancel Jay Leno to hop on Air Force One to directly appeal to the Olympic committee. These were to be Obamalympics.
However, since Mr. Obama has been apologizing and bad mouthing his country every time he left the house, it makes me wonder - who the hell would want to do business with crappy old America? And I expect everyone on Sunday morning to say that the "Ego has Landed" or some clever little tag line like that -- but the reality is, did he have any clout to toss around in the first place? I think the whole world just gave him the finger.
“I think to be eliminated in the first round is very embarrassing, to put it mildly,” said Stephen Hess, a Presidential Historian at George Washington University.Oh don't worry Obama fans, the pundits will simply blame Bush's heightened security screening as the reason Chicago and the USA lost the bid. Couldn't have possibly been the 10.25% Todd Stroger sales tax, right?
Meanwhile, His Holiness Pharaoh Daley the Second showed that while his game of corruption and cronies is unparalleled in Illinois, he's still a second rate amateur in the eyes of one panel. The Olympic Committee. I mean, compared to the Olympic Committee, Daley's a n00b. To throw down the point, for the committee to cut Chicago in the first round - In High School terms: they gave Daley a wedgie in front of the cheerleaders. In South Park Terms: They fed his parents to him in a bowl of chili, had Radiohead insult him and licked up the tears falling on his cheeks. Obviously, Richie planned on leveling up AFTER he got the Olympics, not before. Was that his fatal flaw?
Someone said, "Eh. Would have cost more than it was worth anyway. And this way, maybe Rio will actually do something about the endemic poverty and violence there." Yeah, well, the exact same thing can be said about Chicago! Maybe you haven't heard about 16 year old Derrion Albert being beaten to death? Oh, I can probably show you some video of that. That couldn't have helped. Sh*t, if you're going to get murdered at the Olympics, at least Rio is warm in the summer.
You might even see some tit, and have a cigarette that isn't 8 bucks a pack.
I'm happy for the folks in Rio. Just try not to kill the visitors.
Next week on The Wonderful World of Daley: SCOTUS to review the suppression of the Second Amendment in the Chicago Dynasty. Stay tuned!

Olympic Chicago 2016?
Chicago will try it's best to showcase her corruption and greed on a global scale by hosting the 2016 Summer Games. The International Olympic Committee evaluation commission visit that begins today. I expect many comedic errors and goof ups that will cost Chicago it's bid.A major misstep during the highly structured six-day visit — protests, which the IOC has come to expect, are not a significant stumble — but there could be enough fallout to guarantee defeat.
"I don't think there is an 'aha!' moment when you win," Chicago 2016 Chairman Patrick Ryan said, "but you could screw it up."
There are many chances that they will screw it up. There have been no dry runs, like the way London did on their 2012 bid, and there are many protests planned well within view of the visiting committee. Including the Chicago Police Department, who is angry at Richie.
From a CPD patrolman... I am so sick and tired of this place... Take everything from me... go ahead, city of chicago... i am nothing but a lowly patrolman... you have won... I am tired of this fight... I am tired of the constant battle... you will get nothing from me any more.. I am done... And if I can find another department far far away from here that is willing to take this soul on, I will forever release you from your burden! I was once a fired up, ready to do some good, man amongst men proud to call myself a Chicago Policeman... I am but a shell of my old self... I have been tied up in this stupid f' ing game too long... F ** k this City... let it burn! Let its citizens rot... This department can was once a proud organization... It has been beaten down... We put our lives on the line every day... Somehow that has been left out of the articles... This fact has been met with a resounding "IT IS YOUR JOB... IF YOU DONT LIKE IT GET A NEW JOB" chorus... I am tired of this battle... I am tired of this rhetoric... even our Mayor has adopted this line... And that is not right... We have had our mess ups... what profession has not? No one from AIG, Citi Bank, JP Morgan Chase, GM, Chrysler or Ford has been killed while doing their job, yet they are the ones getting bailed out! Think about it, people... When 9/11 hit, it was not investment bankers running into those buildings! Mortgage brokers did not run in knowing they were leaving loved ones behind... First responders did... When Rick Francis responded to a bus disturbance, and his life ended so abruptly for doing so, not one mortgage banker stood up and said "THESE GUYS DESERVE A CONTRACT!" And all of this happened while times were good... The economy was a+ Did we get a raise??? No Did we get a bonus? NO we get chuck goudie telling us we have a buried treasure and a mayor who says we get paid too much... to he ll with this city to he ll with these citizens... no contact no complaint... you get what you pay for... I AM DONE!!! Next time you call for the police, just remember... YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Like so many others out there, I don't like my job, but I like my paycheck... And too bad, thats all I am here for anymore! I hope the citizens like what they get, because it is a common cry amongst the CPD... like it or not, you have what you have asked for! ENJOY!Expect this cop and his disgruntled fellow officers to be in rare form in front of the committee.
