Okay, okay. Correlation does not equal causation. I'm going to have to agree that it has more to do with the corn subsidy, HFCS's, increasing portion sizes, more Americans eating out, Mom working, and, my favorite, the war against tobacco. But it is a thought provoking graph.Apparently, the documentary Fathead (available Netflix) shows the maddening footage of the Congressional hearings that Gary Taubes' Good Calories Bad Calories and Why We Are Fat (and what to do about it) wrote about. Approximate quote: "We senators don't have time to find out of the science is right, we must act now."
