Thousands of supporters of President Hosni Mubarak today attacked anti-government protesters as fresh turmoil gripped Egypt.

Backers of the president, who last night agreed to relinquish his grip on power, fought with the crowds in Cairo's Tahrir (Liberation) Square, at least 500 injured.

Some rode into the ranks on horses and camels and wielding whips. In chaotic scenes, they pelted each other with stones, large sticks and machetes.

The death toll since protests began is now believed to have hit 300.

Meantime, in Florida, an obvious troll was obviously trolling -- and he was trolling the other troll in NY who is building a mosque.... but he's building it without funding. And when Donald Trump offered to purchase the spot, for 25% more he was turned down. Also, when the Iman said he can't move it because there'd be violence -- yeah, that's a threat. I'm from Chicago. I know a threat when I hear it. "Who's to say what will happen? You know kids like to t'row bricks. Dey can get carried away. I'm just sayin'."

Our favorite intolerant hunt and peck the bible quotes that support our goofy agenda Topeka, Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church sure have a lot of time on their hands. When they're not protesting dead soldiers at their funerals, because America loves 'the gays' they're at the San Diego Comic-Con. Yes, I know that was a run on sentence, but since there's no logic to the previous sentence, I'm going to look past the grammar right now. So according to the loving Westboro, Comic-Con is a gathering of lost souls who are obsessively worshipping false idols like Batman:

Are you kidding?! If these people would spend even some of the energy that they spend on these comic books, reading the Bible, well no high hopes here. They have turned comic book characters into idols, and worship them they do! Isaiah 2:8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made: 9 And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not. It is time to put away the silly vanities and turn to God like you mean it. The destruction of this nation is imminent - so start calling on Batman and Superman now, see if they can pull you from the mess that you have created with all your silly idolatry.

My response is that I have read the bible, and there are some very obvious geeky/nerd passages. First off there's that UFO in Ezekiel - come on, that's X-Files if I ever saw it... and then Psalm 69:4:

And of course our friends at Westboro don't realize is that comics ARE a kind of religion, and telling the same types of morality tales found in their ancient texts. You can't convince me that Superman isn't Jewish. However, since that won't hold up as a quick argument - realize that they're protesting the hobby comic books. What's next model trains?

If they knew anything about the medium, they'd know that there are hundreds of Christian books, and even Robert Crumb painstakingly recreated the entire book of Genesis (another Star Trek II reference, natch!) in comic form.

And before getting too far into an argument about the art of the medium, and how powerful a medium it can be...

Cowardice

Does anyone find it ironic that at recent McCain/Palin hate fests rallies the audience in one breath calls Obama a "terrorist" and in the next exclaims "off with his head?" I bet Ron Perlman would see the irony. What about the "Obama is a bomb" guy? (disclaimer: the first time I heard this I thought he said, "Obama is the bomb."

The McCain campaign seems to not mind wrestling in hate. In fact, they seem to bask in it. They encourage it by claiming that Obama is "palling around with terrorists." They make no moves to stop or discourage open verbalizations of assasination attempts against a United States Senator. This is disgraceful. To imagine that we all have to pretend that this man is somehow honorable because he was in the military. Lee Harvey Oswald was a Marine but is no hero of mine either.

If McCain has even one ounce of manhood in him he would have asked Obama directly about his association with Ayers and his bomb making abilities but he knows full well the charges are bullshit and would not go over well when actual facts are introduced. Instead, he acts like the honorable McCain of years past in the debates (kinda) and sends his campaign to go 100% negative in all advertisements. That's right, he has NOT ONE ad telling us to vote for him but many, many millions of dollars worth of telling us not to vote Obama.

Cowardly. Our man of National Disgrace. He deserves, and looks like he will get, a good solid trouncing in the coming election. Hopefully, the Republican brand will go down with him. then they can elect new Repubs that have decency, honor, and will do what they believe is best for the country. Democrats had to do this themselves not too long ago and it worked out well.
