Sunday Comics - The Week in Review

Some of us made it to the end of the week. Don't forget to change your clocks and the batteries in your smoke detector.

We'll keep this short, as I'm going to the Irish Parade to get candy before I close up the bunker from Japan nuclear fallout.
On this NPR disaster... which seems very tame - but there's an issue that hasn't been brought up -- He was going to take the money. Fake, or not. And he wasn't going to tell the Feds. That's a problem. And HOW could that not have affected coverage? That's even more dangerous than NBC not reporting negatively about it's parent company Comcast. It looks like the final battle, as in Wisconsin, has been lost. For anyone keeping score, the conservatives have had an amazing winning streak going since November 2nd.
PS. Gitmo is still open, and still in business. I think they're using it for training.

Good luck Libyan freedom fighters - maybe next week someone will finally commit to continue talks about having a meeting to select a committee to appoint a blue ribbon panel to debate placing a no-fly zone around Libya to keep you from getting pummeled by Quadaffy's hired goons? Ironically, Mr. and Mrs. Obama had a week long discussion about stopping bullies.

Oh and PS - Phil Collins has said that he's retiring (again) from music. We should have seen that coming in the air of the night.

NPR Controversy

Tea Party Express Chairman Amy Kremer issued the following statement in response to comments made by NPR executive Ron Schiller that smeared the tea party movement:

We were extremely disturbed to hear Ron Schiller, the Senior Vice President for Development of National Public Radio, spew baseless, hateful fiction about the tea party movement today, calling us weird, Evangelical, Islamaphobic, and gun-toting racists.

The tea party is composed of hardworking American citizens of every race, creed, and religion, whose taxes help fund NPR and pay Schiller's salary. I can't think of a time in recent history when a group of Americans have been so vilified and denigrated by a person who is supposedly serving the public's interest. Schiller's ignorant comments lend overwhelming evidence for the need to stop all federal funding of NPR.

Even more outrageous was Mr. Schiller's fact-challenged claim regarding the education and intelligence of tea partiers: "In my personal opinion, liberals today might be more educated, fair and balanced than conservatives." This sweeping, unenlightened generalization is abjectly false, according to a New York Times poll conducted last year, in which tea partiers were found to be better educated than the general public.

Mr. Schiller shows blatant disrespect bordering on contempt for a constitutionally-based political movement. It is untenable that he would express such ignorant views in public or in private. We at the Tea Party Express demand an immediate apology from Mr. Schiller, and will gladly welcome his departure from NPR. Regardless of Mr. Schiller's future employment prospects, we highly recommend he undergo sensitivity training to discover why he is prone to express such unenlightened rhetoric.

Note: NPR says Schiller had left the network before the video release. I'd think that an apology is in order--from Schiller and also NPR. Click here to view the O'Keefe video.

Oh, and why is O'Keefe still even considered a reliable source, after having been discredited so many times? Well, he's more effective than Michael Moore at enacting change. He tackled Acorn, Planned Parenthood, and now NPR.

UPDATE: National Public Radio's president and chief executive, Vivian Schiller, resigned Wednesday morning in the wake of a scandal that has elevated the news organization's concerns about its future funding. (here)

NPR is attacked by the right hand fringe of the political carpet. NPR decides to run a story about the "independent" groups that are funding all the ads this cycle... I'll save you the trip and show you the money.

It sounds like a tit-for-tat attack right up Fox News's cycle - except for one problem... NPR did this number on the Democrats in 2008.

But with the Democrats, theirs was much larger and more interesting.

The Week In Review - Sunday Comics

Here's the end of the week round up...
First, NPR - meet FOX. What did everyone expect to have happen?
The bed bug craze is getting kind of nuts... which is hilarious, until you see one.
Foreclosures continue to be about as controversial as the loans themselves.
Taliban 'leadership' are sitting down to 'talk'. Who the hell knows what that means?
Obama's thrown out Hope and Change and is changing lanes to spew Fear. I've been saying since he picked Biden as his Veep he was going to get his ass handed back to him in 2010.
Puppet masters...
Corporate influence in this campaign is a little more, er -transparent, perhaps - obvious this cycle?
And when Mr. Obama lashed out upon the Chamber of Commerce for spending against him- it rang a just a tad hollow and hypocritical. It was definitely not presidential.
