ESPN is owned by The Walt Disney Company, which also happens to own Marvel Entertainment, so it’s only right to combine the two — right? Yeah, great idea...

Because comic books and jock cultures meld SO well in real life? Perhaps because you CAN do a thing, doesn't necessarily mean you SHOULD do a thing?

And if we're really going to nitpick - why would heroes be fighting each other on the court? They're all Avengers... which means they're all on the same team fighting the bad guys. Shouldn't Kobe be Dr. Doom or some nonsense?

Miami Gets LeBron

LeBron James Picks Miami

After months of rumor, analysis and conjecture, LeBron James announced his decision to join the Miami Heat. In a televised special on ESPN, titled "The Decision," James agreed to join fellow All Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh with the hopes of starting a dynasty.

As long as he stays healthy. Doesn't go to the club with guns. Stays away from toxic family members, dog fights, and crack whores, he might just accomplish that goal.

But that's a long list of hurdles.

ESPN Anchor off for a Week

Remember when Dana Jacobson went off on a drunken rant saying, "eff Jesus" and such?

No? It was all over the... news? Really, this is the first you're hearing of it?

Well, ESPN2 co-host of "First Take," (You know, the one who looks like she escaped from the stable?) was suspended for a whole week for her rant and behavior at the Jan. 11th roast of ESPN Radio hosts Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic.

At the roast, Jacobson made a rambling speech that included vulgar references about Notre Dame. Jacobson is a Michigan graduate, and she and Golic, a former Irish defensive lineman, often have exchanged barbs about the rivalry between the schools.

One eyewitness labeled it an "embarrassing display," and a newspaper account said the crowd booed Jacobson. Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis also was in attendance. (press release here, with her 'apology')

Note that this comes just after the Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman was suspended for two weeks for saying [in a reference to Tiger Woods] younger players should "lynch him in a back alley"

Golfweek editor Dave Seanor was fired Friday for approving a cover that featured a swinging noose in its coverage of the Tilghman controversy. Granted, this is probably the first time Golfweek was mentioned by Blasphemes - or 100 other news carriers - but I have to say, that's even in bad taste, and remember, I'm the guy who posted a picture of a dog's ass that looks like Jesus.

Johnny Bench 'differs' in opinion.

From the link above, "Johnny Bench and Gary Carter said Bonds’ chase for 755 is good for baseball, but they part ways when it comes to the role steroids may have played in his success."

So performance, no matter what the means to get there, don't matter? If I'm Johnny Bench - which I'm not - I'd be concerned about what Bonds means to my numbers, integrety of the game, and the long term effects on said game. I'd at least say, "you know, I'm not interested in commenting on this story MSNBC, thanks for thinking of me."

The best part about Bonds not playing yesterday against the Cubs - not having to hear ESPN HD blabber on and on about him all galderned game!
