Hillary Rodham Clinton will concede Tuesday night that Barack Obama has the delegates to secure the Democratic nomination, campaign officials said, effectively ending her bid to be the nation's first female president.
A senior Clinton campaign official confirms to CBS News that Hillary Clinton will "acknowledge but not concede" the race tonight. The official says "she has no plans to concede the race tonight."
Obama remains less than 40 delegates shy of clinching the nomination, but he is widely expected to make up the difference Tuesday with superdelegate support and votes in South Dakota and Montana. Once he reaches the magic number of 2,118, Clinton will acknowledge that he has secured the necessary delegates to be the nominee.
The former first lady will stop short of formally suspending or ending her race in her speech in New York City.
It's over, but it isn't Over Over?

Sen. Hillary Clinton, however, will not concede defeat tonight or end her attempt to make history by becoming the first female presidential nominee.
Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe rushed onto CNN this morning to deny an Associated Press report that Clinton would concede tonight after polls closed in the final two Democratic primaries in Montana and South Dakota.
McAuliffe called the report "100 percent incorrect."
"The race goes on," McAuliffe insisted.
Obama =
Kerry minus the years of service, Dukakis minus the executive experience,
Carter minus the religious integrity,
McGovern minus the military heroism.
Super choice you've made there, Democrats!
You gonna vote for some geezer named McCain, he'll probably die before his term is up.
That sounds like a good deal to me! A twofer!
