Rev Wright's Hole

Just when things couldn't get worse for John McCain - Bush apparently WILL be speaking at the convention, Palin isn't quite working out as well as they had thought, someone took a crap in the Convention hall... (well something must have caused them to cancel last night's party, right?)

Then Ole' Rev. Wright opened his mouth, again.
"This ordinary boy [Obama] just might be the first president in the history of the United States to have a black woman sleeping at 1600 Pennsylvania legally,"
Wright said, referring to Michelle Obama, in a sermon at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston.

Let's stop and take our breath. There's so much fail here, I don't know where to get started.

Boy - the word 'Boy' when speaking of a man of color is a fairly high up on the most racist thing a person can say outloud. There's probably only one word that ranks higher... perhaps you've heard it in a rap tune once, twice, okay eight hundred times? But 'boy' is especially harsh, and very old-school racist.

Although Wright's remarks were full of praise for Obama - several times, he referred to Obama as a "boy" who later developed into an extraordinary person, through God's work and, (one would have to presume), Wright's guidance?

"The lord turned the ordinary into the extraordinary. Y'all just saw it this past week. It was on national television,"
Wright said to applause.

And there's the "sleeping legally in the White House." Wheew! It's unclear whether Wright was making a reference to prostitution, to old miscegenation laws, or to the history of illicit interracial sex under slavery... In the White House.

Is he talking about Jefferson? Construction on the President’s House began in 1792. Yes, that construction was probably by slave labor. Well, free and slave workers. Either way, black laborers proved vital to the work force that created both the White House and U.S. Capitol.

And Jefferson did bring servants from Monticello.

President Andrew Jackson also brought a large household of slave domestics with him from Tennessee to the White House. Many of them lived in the servant’s quarters, and the president’s body servant slept in the room with him.

But dear readers, slavery was LEGAL.

Shocker, yes. Slavery was legal -- until the Civil War -- and then not until the Emancipation Proclamation on September 22, 1862. And that was only for the waring Confederate States, and only in those parts where the Union Army had liberated them.

Maybe he was he talking about black women donors, or African dignitaries, such as Nelson Mandela and his wife Winnie Mandela? Did they sneak in illegally? Did they sleep over without anyone's invitation?

I'm curious if Rev. Wright has a brain tumor?
Or maybe he's got an account set up with Karl Rove?
As a good friend of mine always says, "Check his bank account."

Either way, please, someone throw Rev. Wright a third grade history book.
Or at least read one out loud to him.
Frankly, who needs the secret Muslim rumors when the truth is 10x more damaging?

I now firmly believe that BOTH candidates are unfit for command. Can we dig up FDR or Teddy Roosevelt, please?

I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother - a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe." -- Barack Obama

  2. Is he "gettin' down" in that picture? Maybe he's dancing to the song they are singing on the front porch at the end of The Jerk. Who knows....
