I guess pissing off your base by calling them racists, questioning their commitment to their religion and their love of the Bill of Rights which allows them to have guns wasn't the wisest of political maneuvers? Perhaps such a person running for office shouldn't condescend, attack and smear those folks whose votes you are seeking? And those folks that you want to lead. Me thinks this slip up shows a lack of humility, political prowess and perhaps - perhaps that you do not have the inability to unite people despite one's own claim to the contrary?
