A husband and wife stand behind splayed microphones, the politician apologizing for a sexual scandal and his wife standing stoically beside him.
It has played out a lot in the past year: Sen. Larry Craig and his wife, Suzanne; Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his wife, Carlita; and Sen. David Vitter and his wife, Wendy, all have held “stand by your man” press conferences following scandals.
On Monday, New York’s Democratic governor and his wife became the latest political couple in the frame.
Forced to stand next to her hubby of 20 years, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, Silda Wall Spitzer watched as he apologized for violating obligations to his family and the public, for his connection to a prostitution ring. A very expensive ho ring to boot.
I almost feel sorry for those wives... but if they didn't know what they were getting into - well, they're just stupid. Besides, if they play it out right, they might even get their hubby's old job - right HillDog?!
Larry Craig claims he's not gay. Rrrrrrright. I think people would respect him more if he just "came out" and admitted he enjoys some man meat.
ReplyDeleteSay what you will about Larry Craig, at least he was trying to get it free in that bathroom -- 5K for a wet hole? I got one on my roof that won't cost me that much!
