Hawking Says F-It, Physics Rule!

In a surprising move, Physicist and Simpsons guest star Stephen Hawking has just done something remarkable - he just gave the finger to the world's religions without moving a muscle.

He came out and said that physics alone can explain the Big Bang. The law of gravity is enough to explain the universe. No god or gods were necessary in 'designing it' or 'flipping the switch.'

In his latest book, The Grand Design, [see, he's selling a book] an extract of which is published in Eureka magazine in The Times, Hawking said: “Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist.”

He added: “It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the Universe going.”

In A Brief History of Time, Prof Hawking's most famous work, he did not dismiss the possibility that God had a hand in the creation of the world... so this is a bit of a reversal. Or he's less afraid of fatwa's now that he's 68?

This is just as silly as his recent statement about hostile aliens, which was, "Shut Up! Quit broadcasting! That show V could totally actually happen, man!"

I think Hawking should stick to physics.

Dude, maybe S.H. is tired of people stealing gravity's thunder and claiming "Jeebus did it" al the lovin' time.

None of us live in a vacuum, and we must speak out or act against instances of ignorance, especially the willful kind.

so god on our boy for using science rather than Bronze Age mysticism to explain our world.
