It's A Double Cross

Ah, the use of the Christian Cross symbol to trick the poor Haitians into thinking that they are a Christian group helping out. The Scientology cross has eight corners representing the eight dynamics of life. Before you yell trademark infringement, remember that the Christians are famous for stealing and incorporating other people's religious customs and adopting them as their own. Perhaps you've read my 25 part series on Christmas?

It is possible that the Scientologists are there because they genuinely believe that they can help the Haitians to get rid of their clusters of confused Body Thetans.

More cynically, poor Scientologists can do volunteer work in exchange for auditing sessions.

And it would be pretty low to belittle someone who is in the middle of all that pain and suffering - and actually helping people, regardless of their religious stance... However, this is Blasphemes. They aren't helping. They are performing their brand of pseudo-science on these poor people, touching their damaged body parts to get "the nerves in harmony". Although the real doctors there say they don't really care about what these Scientologists are doing.

But I'm not worried. According to the U.N. Population Fund census released in May 2006 (based on 2003 data) revealed the following religious demographics: 54.7 percent of the population is Roman Catholic, 15.4 percent Baptist, 7.9 percent Pentecostal, 3 percent Adventist, 2.1 percent voodoo (vodun), 1.5 percent Methodist...

The Voodoo ought to be able to wipe out anything Scientology can dish out.

And the Methodists.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti – John Travolta has landed his own jet in Haiti carrying relief supplies and a team including doctors and Scientology ministers.

The 55-year-old actor flew the Boeing 707 from Florida on Monday carrying 4 tons of ready-to-eat military rations and medical supplies for earthquake victims.

Among those accompanying Travolta is his wife, actress Kelly Preston.

The Church of Scientology says the pair planned to return home after unloading their passengers and supplies.
