Obama Emails

The hoax e-mails that paint Democratic presidential front-runner Barack Obama as unpatriotic and as a clandestine Muslim are still having an impact on voters' perception of the Illinois senator, reports a Wednesday story the New York Daily News.

The Daily News quotes a couple of Indiana voters' fears, based on their perception that Obama is really an anti-American Muslim.

Which got me thinking - I've heard these stories since Feb 2007, when Obama announced he was running. Where did these stories come from?

If Hillary's people started them - and they're obviously wrong - other than just pure fear and racism, what goal would these phony emails create?

Maybe they would encourage voters or the 'popular media' to look into Obama's real religion... which would point them straight to Rev. Jeremiah Wright? And since Wright's church sells their sermons on CD and DVD - it wouldn't take long for someone to say, "No, he's no Muslim, friend. But he IS a member of a nutty racist black church. Here... watch this..."

Now, the trouble with this theory is that the stories of the emails only really got traction in Iowa. It was in December - and that's when two Hillary campaign workers were fired for sending the smear emails to Iowa voters.

Just a thought, and as hairy and underhanded as it is for the initial smear email - if the Jeremiah Wright business ends Obama's career - Hillary's sneaky attack shows political prowess that I didn't think she had.

Still -OMG he doesn't say the pledge of allegiance or wear a flag pin!
